UPA Helps You Negotiate Better Rates

The Typical Negotiation

  • The insurance company knows reimbursement rates and quality of care data for all its contracted physicians
  • You know reimbursement rates and quality of care data only for yourself

The UPA Negotiation

  • Multiple physicians are represented with broad knowledge of existing rates

How UPA Provides Value for Physicians

The core of the UPA value proposition lies with "strength in numbers." With each new UPA member, we gain increased access to market information, and we gain strength when negotiating with large-scale entities such as insurance companies, vendors and others.

As a UPA member, you gain the benefit of having an expanding volume of reimbursement rate data, clinical outcome data and patient survey information.

With each new member, we obtain and analyze the new member's data. We periodically distribute this data to all UPA members, use our enlarging data base to develop a group strategy, and by consensus act upon it.

What will UPA do?

UPA is presently doing business, and has contracts with most major insurance carriers (e.g. BC/BS, United, Aetna, Healthnet).

All doctors that enter UPA provide their insurance data, specifically their contracted rates with each insurance company. That data is then compared with UPA’s overall rates, and with the corresponding data of others.

With every doctor that enters and every new rate that is provided to UPA, UPA will determine which rate is the best for each CPT code, and will strive to obtain that rate for all UPA members. Our conclusions will be periodically distributed to member physicians, and we will decide our course by consensus.
